Stretch and Relax
While the benefits of daily exercise are numerous and well known, the benefits of a regular meditation/relaxation and stretch routine are far less emphasised but just as important. Learning to slow down and relax at the end of your day is just as important to health and body functioning as regular exercise.
The benefits of a meditation practice are no secret. The practice is often touted as a habit of highly successful (and happy) people, recommended as a means of coping with stress and anxiety, and praised as the next-big-thing in mainstream wellness. The thing is, its not just anecdotal. Thousands of studies have shown the positive impact that meditation and relaxation has on our health and wellbeing.
Why? to restore life balance.
Reduce stress and tension. To clear the mind.
How? by meditation, relaxation and stretch.
By focussing on a clients individual needs, I can help you to slow down and clear your mind, through stretch, breath and meditation through mindfulness (focus on your breath, thoughts, or sounds). This type of mediation focuses on concentration and awareness.
What? Late evening classes for all.
Small-group stretch and relax classes only 7 clients per class in a beautiful, tranquil environment or one to one/two daytime personal training stretch sessions.
Studies show that meditation is associated with improvement in a variety of psychological areas, including stress, anxiety, addiction, depression, eating disorders and cognitive function, among others. There's also research to suggest that meditation can reduce blood pressure, pain response, stress hormone levels and even cellular health.
Increase your self-awareness
It is difficult to develop self-awareness (the process of connecting with your true self) because of the busy world we live in. The constant commotion of life tends to get in the way of building self-connection. Meditation helps us focus in the moment, without life's distractions. It helps us tap into our subconscious minds, leaving us still and calm. One of the main benefits of meditation is to reduce stress. During meditation, you focus your attention and eliminate the stream of jumbled thoughts that may be crowding your mind and causing stress. This process can result in enhanced physical and emotional well-being.
Meditation helps rejuvenate you, it helps you relieve any negativity that may be weighing on your mind and helps to improve sleep. During the process of mindfulness meditation I focus on your breathing so you stop thinking about the past and future, only focusing on the present. Once you have let go and fully relaxed, you are in a better state for a good night sleep.
Meditation results in a clear mind helping you to improve your concentration, memory and focus, reducing anxiety. Anxiety is a cognitive state connected to an inability to regulate your emotional responses to perceived threats. Mindfulness meditation strengthens a person's cognitive ability to regulate emotions.
Stretch and relaxation
Everyone has stress. A build up of stress causes your muscles to contract, becoming tense. This tension can go on to have a negative impact on just about every part of your body. Like all types of exercise, flexibility exercises like stretching have powerful stress-busting abilities. Spending just a short amount of time stretching can help calm the mind, providing a mental break and giving your body a chance to recharge.
